25 October 2023 | 14:00 CEST | EQ-5D-Y Implementation and AHP for Bolt-ons | Renee Jones (University of Melbourne) seeks to qualitatively understand clinician, parent and child perspectives on using the EQ-5D-Y in routine clinical care for children and to co-design how the EQ-5D-Y could be used and implemented in outpatient clinics. Cheuk Wai Ng (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) will present on his application of analytical hierarchy process in testing EQ-5D bolt-on dimensions. After their brief presentations, they will answer questions from Janine Verstraete (Univeristy of Cape Town) and Fanni Rencz (Corvinus University of Budapest) as well as attendees.

November 2023 | 22:00 CET | EuroQol Opportunities for Network Members and other ECRs | At this online forum (90 min), Network members and other early career researchers (ECRs) will discuss challenges in their career trajectory and the merits of EuroQol opportunities. After a brief overview, various members (to be named) will introduce topics, such as (1) the Call for proposals and other funding opportunities; (2) LinkedIn and Whatsapp Groups; (3) Leadership roles and activities; and (4) Ideas for future events. Moreover, we welcome candid feedback with regard to the Network’s initial year. This is the first time that we have hosted such an open forum, and we hope to see and hear from each of you.

6 December 2023 | 22:00 CET | EQ-5D-Y Brazil and Children’s perceptions of HRQoL | Caique de Melo do Espirito Santo (Universidade Cidade de São Paulo) will present his studies on the psychometric properties and values of EQ-5D-Y-3L and -5L in Brazil. Diana Khanna (Flinders University) will present on differences in perceptions of HRQoL between adults and children in Australia. After their brief presentations, they will answer questions from Nancy Devlin (University Of Melbourne) and Wolfgang Greiner (Universität Bielefeld) as well as attendees.

February 2024 | TBD | Measurement, Bolt-ons and Translations | This Core Knowledge Panel (90 min) starts with an introduction to measurement by Brendan Mulhern (University of Technology Sydney), who chairs the Descriptive System Working Group. After this overview, Fanni Rencz (Corvinus University of Budapest) will introduce the concept of bolt-ons (items that supplement the EQ-5D-5L) and Michael Herdman (National University of Singapore) will introduce the translation process. Two Network members (TBN) will narrate their first hand experiences with the instruments and serve as discussants. After these presentations, attendees will ask questions and open discussion more broadly. The Core Knowledge Panels are tailored for early career researchers (ECRs) interested in becoming more involved in EuroQol research.

April 2024 | 14:00 CEST | EQ-5D-Y Singapore and TTO Distortion | Rachel Lee-Yin Tan (National University of Singapore) will present her research on the EQ-5D-Y as a preference-based HRQoL instrument for use in paediatrics in Singapore. Zhongyu Lang (Erasmus University) will present his findings employing episodic future thinking to reduce the distortion of time preference in time trade-off (TTO). After their brief presentations, they will answer questions from Simone Kreimeier (Universität Bielefeld) and Valentina Prevolnik Rupel (Institute for Economic Research, Ljubljana, Slovenia) as well as attendees.

May 2024 | 14:00 CEST | Assessing Population Health | This Core Knowledge Panel starts with an introduction to the assessment of population health by Juanita Haagsma (Erasmus MC), who co-chairs the Populations and Health Systems Working Group. After this overview, Fatima Al Sayah (University of Alberta) will introduce the EuroQol – Data for Assessment of Population Health Needs and Instrument Evaluation (EQ-DAPHNIE) project and Agota Szende (Fortrea) will introduce methods illustrated with evidence from international analyses of health equity. Jiabi Wen (University of Alberta) and Liisa Penttinen (University of Eastern Finland) will narrate their first hand experiences with population assessments and serve as discussants. After these presentations, attendees will ask questions and open discussion more broadly. June 2024 | 14:00 CEST | The Validity of the EQ-5D in Clinical Practice and among Indigenous People | Irene Salvi (University of St. Gallen) will present how differences in design and requirements affect their integration of the EQ-5D and other measures into disease-specific clinical dashboard. Lilla Roy (University of Alberta) will share what she has learned about how valid the EQ-5D-5L might be for Indigenous people living in urban Alberta, Canada. After their brief presentations, they will answer questions from Erica Lubetkin (CUNY School of Medicine) and Emma Wyeth (University of Otago) as well as attendees.

Xin Zhang (University Medical Center Groningen) will present a new drop-down method in preference-based health-outcome measurement. After this overview, Juan Manuel Ramos Goñi (Maths in Health) will describe the EQ-VT valuation protocol. 22 June 2023 | 14:00 PM CET | EQ-5D-5L in RCTs and in comparison with EQ-HWB | Jiajun Yan (McMaster University) will present statistical methods for analyzing EQ-5D-5L data in randomized clinical trials. Maja Kuharic (University of Illinois at Chicago) will compare EQ-HWB/EQ-HWB-S with the EQ-5D-5L and other preference-based measures among US informal caregivers. After their brief presentations (15 minutes each), they will answer questions from discussants Yan Feng and Tessa Peasgood (Group members) as well as attendees (~30 minutes). 18 May 2023 | 14:00 PM CET | How the EuroQol Office can help you | This Core Knowledge Panel (90 min) starts with an introduction to the EuroQol Office by Bernhard Slaap (Executive Director, EuroQol Research Foundation, Rotterdam, the Netherlands). After this overview, James W. Shaw (Executive Director and Head, Patient-Reported Outcomes Assessment, WWHEOR at Bristol Myers Squibb) and Caitlyn T. Solem (Director, Pipeline Strategy, US Oncology Value Evidence and Outcomes, GSK) will describe interactions with the Office from a client’s perspective and the merits of the EuroQol family of instruments in clinical trials. Many Network members may move into commercial roles and similarly rely on the Office to help them incorporate EuroQol instruments into their projects. Discussants from the EQ PhD Network include Ling Jie Cheng (National University of Singapore), Renee Jones (University of Melbourne), and Jiajun Yan (McMaster University) . Attendees are also invited to ask questions and discuss this practice. 5 April 2023 | 14:00 PM CET | EQ-5D clinical dashboards and EQ-HWB DCE | At this Student Research Webinar (60 min), Anja Yvonne Bischof (University of St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland) will present her recent research on the inclusion of the EQ-5D on clinical dashboards in combination with disease-specific patient-reported outcomes measures. Haode Wang (University of Sheffield, Sheffield, United Kingdom) will present on DCE valuation of the EQ-HWB descriptive system in UK and Australia. After their brief presentations, they will answer questions from Jia Jia Lee (National University of Singapore, Singapore) and Zhihao Yang (Guizhou Medical University, China) as well as attendees (~30 minutes).

19 January 2023 | 22:00 CET | A Brief History of the EuroQol Group | This first Core Knowledge Panel (90 min) will focus on the Group’s formation, its current organization, and where it might go in the future. Panelists include Richard Brooks, Nancy Devlin and Gouke Bonsel and the discussants include Maja Kuharic, Rachel Lee-Yin Tan, and Abraham Gebregziabiher Welie. Each panelist will provide a brief summary from their unique perspectives as well as answer questions from the discussants and attendees. 30 November 2022 | 22:00 CET | Lessons from Industry | The first Network Career Launch Panel (90 min) will focus on the experiences of scientists working in industry. Panelists (in alphabetical order) include Kristina Secnik Boye (Lilly), Rachael L. DiSantostefano (Janssen) Ruixuan Jiang (Merck), Milad Karimi (BioMarin), and Lucila Rey Ares (Pfizer). Each will introduce themselves, describe their transition, and suggest training (beyond graduate school) as well as answer your questions. Based on this panel, we intend to arrange similar ones with leaders in consultancy, government, and academia. |
