First results of United States valuation study for the EQ-5D-5L presented at ISPOR 2018

Dr A Simon Pickard has presented the first results of the US valuation study for the EQ-5D-5L at the ISPOR Conference in Baltimore, USA on Monday 21 May 2018. The project team at the University of Illinois at Chicago used the standardized international ‘EQ-VT’ valuation protocol developed and supported by the EuroQol Group. The team interviewed over 1000 study participants, representative of the US general population in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and race. The success of this important initiative can be credited to the project team and the range of different stakeholders who co-operated and contributed throughout the project.

Results of this valuation study for the EQ-5D-5L, which follows the same ‘EQ-VT’ protocol that has already been used in many other countries/regions, will help to inform economic evaluations and decision-making in the US. The researchers plan to publish the US-based EQ-5D-5L valuation study in a peer-reviewed scientific journal soon.
