Conceptual frameworks and their implications for the EQ-5D Bolt-on Toolbox 2

The EuroQol Descriptive Systems Working Group will host four webinars (via Zoom) with the goal of exploring the critical link between conceptual frameworks and their implications for bolt-on interpretation and selection.

Each hour-long session features two well-established frameworks. Two presenters will each have 15 minutes to introduce their assigned framework (including core references and instrument examples) and explore how that specific ‘lens’ changes the interpretation and selection of bolt-ons. Following these two presentations, a discussant will highlight similarities and differences between the frameworks to kick off a 30-minute open discussion.  Recordings will be made available via the EuroQol website.

Webinar on Taxonomical Frameworks

Nagi/Engel (1965; Biopsychosocial): organizes biological function, individual activity, and social participation within a process taxonomy that clarifies how transitions from impairments to restrictions depend on context (e.g., WHO-ICF). Juanita Haagsma (Erasmus MC, Netherlands)

Spilker (1990; Five Domains): categorizes patient experience into a comprehensive taxonomy, emphasizing completeness over relationships or context (e.g., PROMIS item banks). Aureliano Finch (EuroQol Office, Netherlands)

Discussion, James W. Shaw (Takeda Pharmaceuticals, USA)
