Paul is an expert in (subjective) health-outcome measurement methodology. In 2004, as a visiting research fellow at the Harvard Initiative for Global Health, he investigated the application of scaling models as an alternative to the standard valuation techniques. He coordinated for the EuroQol Research Foundation several experimental studies on discrete choice models. In 2016 his book "The Measurement of Health and Health Status" is published.
