The EuroQol Descriptive Systems Working Group will host four webinars (via Zoom) with the goal of exploring the critical link between conceptual frameworks and their implications for bolt-on interpretation and selection.
Each hour-long session features two well-established frameworks. Two presenters will each have 15 minutes to introduce their assigned framework (including core references and instrument examples) and explore how that specific ‘lens’ changes the interpretation and selection of bolt-ons. Following these two presentations, a discussant will highlight similarities and differences between the frameworks to kick off a 30-minute open discussion. Recordings will be made available via the EuroQol website.
Webinar on Causal Frameworks:
Wilson-Cleary-Ferrans (1995; Clinical to Wellbeing): traces the causal, structural, and contextual chain from biological markers to social roles and subjective perceptions (e.g., EORTC QLQ-C30), Tessa Peasgood (University of Sheffield, United Kingdom)
Maslow/McKenna (1997; Deficit to Flourishing): defines a structural hierarchy of requirements to fulfill human needs (e.g., CASP-19), Sarah Derrett (University of Otago, New Zealand)
Discussion, Erica Lubetkin (City University of New York School of Medicine, USA)
