Scoring EQ-5D-5L with the new UK value set

The EQ-5D-5L value set for the United Kingdom is now available. Details on the valuation study have been published in Value in Health. This value set reflects the preferences of the UK general population and can be used to score EQ-5D-5L data to derive utility values for use including in health technology assessment (HTA) and policy decision-making.

Data collection for the EQ-5D-5L valuation study started in 2022 and included 1200 interviews with a representative sample of the adult population from across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to identify preferences for EQ-5D-5L health states. The study used state-of-the-art methodologies, and data quality was rigorously and independently assessed throughout the study. The study was overseen by a Steering Group, which included academic experts, representatives from NICE, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, and representatives from EuroQol.
