Strategy and research infrastructure
The EuroQol Research Foundation (henceforth “Foundation”) is a large funder of research on the measurement and valuation of health. Our single source of income as a Foundation is revenue from sponsorship and license fees paid by commercial users (primarily the life sciences industry) for use of EQ-5D and other EuroQol instruments. This income helps us promote scientific research that directly contributes to developing and supporting the use of our instruments to improve healthcare decision-making.
Every year, we provide around 4 million euro funding to researchers and organisations in this field. In general, we award grants through published Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Around 90% of our research budget is allocated through the RFP rounds. Proposals that are submitted in response to an RFP and that seek to address priority areas as listed in the RFP will be considered for funding. Occasionally we invite proposals by directly contacting specific organizations to work on certain themes.
